the vision

The Culture Side was founded by Los Angeles born and raised, married duo, Maya and Jesse, who embarked on a journey to build a generational, successful, and healthier lifestyle for their family. After years of working, studying, and crafting artisan goods while prioritizing implementing positive habits in their daily lives, they searched for businesses that aligned with their values but found few that truly met their needs. Determined to fill this gap, they committed to providing access to high-quality, health-conscious products in a welcoming space for their community by creating a Specialty Market, carrying quality and clean ingredient or material based items for their community. In addition to their hand-picked, locally sourced items you will always find freshly made cold pressed juices carefully crafted by Maya, and daily baked artisan breads made by Jesse, who has carefully crafted his baking skills and recipes for several years.

As a Black and Brown family, Maya (African American & Chicana) and Jesse (Chicano & Guatemalan)- they understood the challenge of finding clean-ingredient, toxin-free, and sustainable products made by people who reflected their culture and values. This realization inspired them to create The Culture Side (shout out to their oldest son for naming it!), ensuring their family and community had access to the very best—with a mission rooted in generational wealth and holistic health.

We want to bring back that comfort and love of an old school market vibe with a new-age west coast twist!
